Storytelling update

We’re doing fables this week…a lot of the standard Aesop ones have really depressing morals, like “if you are different from other people you will have no friends”. Boo. I’m also not sure how to work the moral in orally without sounding ridiculous. The point of them really is “hit the audience over the head with the moral”, so maybe you’re just supposed to do that. I’m doing a Jataka story, partly because most of the Aesop ones I could find, besides having weird morals, also were only a few lines long (not that there aren’t weird Jataka stories. But those are a different variety of weird and usually involve people dying for obscure Buddhist reasons). I think I’ve seen a Western variation of this particular story anyway.
