Ben talked with our landlord, and we have reached a compromise. We can use the back couple of feet, in which Ben has constructed a beautiful raised bed using rocks dug up while digging the garden, for vegetables and such, and the rest of the yard will be grass. Not what I was originally intending, but this will be much less work and will look lovely. I transferred the potatoes and garlic, which I hope haven’t been too severely traumatized, and planted more sugar snap peas, bush beans, and edamame. If I want more gardening experience than that, I can always go to the farm and volunteer Sunday mornings. All shall be well.
